Women in Logistics is a new networking group. It was formed in late 2008 and on 15 January 2009, at the inaugural meeting, nineteen key women in the industry met to discuss how the group should operate, its key purpose and objectives. It was an inspiring and motivating day for all who attended. A year on there are now almost 1,000 members of the WIL group and it is still growing rapidly.
WIL is a voluntary group and has the support and backing of many professional bodies and organisations within the sector. This includes the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the Freight Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association.

Why focus on women?
With less than 10% of management roles in logistics being held by women, the group has a key purpose of promoting women in the Logistics sector and providing networking opportunities.
The key objective is to promote the interests of women in the logistics sector, which includes offering mentoring and encouragement and providing personal development and support for members through planned activities and networking, and to have fun and enjoyment.
